The infinite game, coined by James Carse, is a game where we play just to keep playing. There’s no end, there’s no winning, there’s no status.
It’s we’ve lost, but children naturally play when they laugh and ask, “Again!”
So you throw them in the air, again, and again, and again.
It’s a game that never ends, so we need to use all the resources available to us in order to keep playing. Whatever we can get, we will use.
When we start to think this way, everything around us has their place. Money is no longer the objective or rule, it’s a resource. We only need as much as we need to play the game. Family and friends are a resource, but maybe the most important one.
If the vision of the world is truly worth our time, then it’s a vision we we won’t live to see come true. If it is, then we’ve dreamt too small.
The first step of enrolling into an infinite game, is to have a vision, a possibility of this world that makes you want to play, infinitely.
